lawyers: Eddy Van Camp

Eddy VAN CAMP studied Greek and Latin at secondary school and in 1969 he obtained the diploma of Doctor of Law and Master of Notaryship at the Catholic University of Leuven.

The same year, he  became a member of the Antwerp Bar and in 1973 he was accepted as a trustee in bankruptcy at the Court of Commerce under Willy VAN ORSHAEGEN. Together with the latter and with the deceased confrere Willy SMETS, he gained rich and practical experience.

As a trustee in bankruptcy, Eddy VAN CAMP has a lot of experience in the various domains of law, among which of course Company Law, general and extraordinary Law on Insolvency.

In this capacity, he treated several important bankruptcies , which often lead to the preservation of the economic activities.

He also gave advice to several members of the Parliamentary Committees for the realisation of the new Law on Insolvency, and the new Law on Bankruptcy in 1997, in 2002 and the modification of the law of December 6^th 2005.

He is officially recognised as “mediator” and is regularly requested as arbitrator in arbitration procedures.

Eddy VAN CAMP is the author of “De nieuwe Faillissementswet” (the new law on bankruptcy) (Kluwer Rechtswetenschappen 1997), member of the editorial board of Kluwer Insolventierecht (Kluwer Isnolvency Law) (“Fare” & “Faillissementsrecht en gerechtelijk akkoord”) (Fare, Bankruptcy Law and Judicial Settlement) and regularly speaks at the M&D seminars and at the Trainings of Kluwer and Graydon.

As senior lawyer of the office, and besides the cases personally treated by him, he helps his collaborators with the treatment of dossiers, he coordinates and delegates the work, he leads the weekly meetings, during which the problems of pending cases are discussed.
