lawyers: Ilse Mertens

Since 1988, Ilse Mertens is a member of the Bar after a previous career in the private sector. She joined the office in 1991.

She studies Latin & Greek in secondary school, and she obtained the diploma of Master of Law at the RG (State University of Gent) with an in-depth study of Bankruptcy Law (Prof. Ph. Colle), Company Accountancy (Prof. De Lembre) and an introduction to business management (Vlerick institute).

She further obtained the Complement Economics at UFSIA.

Since 1991, Ilse Mertens is a trustee in bankruptcy at the Court of Commerce in Antwerp, where she followed the additional trainings accounting, , supervision and forensic research (U.A.M.S.), as well as the appropriate permanent training courses.

Her preferred subjects are Insolvency Law, and besides general commercial law, Company Law and the Law of Obligations.

She is active as an adviser in various companies, litigant, and she is repeatedly charged by the court with special mandates.

Within her domain, she regularly speaks at the conferences organised by M&D. Seminars. (Actualisation of bankruptcy law and special insolvency law).
